Dresses!

The wonderful thought of spring has been present in my mind every since the tremendous snow storm we had a month or so back. As the snow came tumbling down and everything turned white and frozen I began to think of the all wonderful spring. Once I had finished reminiscing over beautiful, lush green grass, crystal blue skies, blooming flowers and cozy warm air punctuated by soft breezes I began to concoct a spring wardrobe for myself. I have loved sun dresses for a while, especially ones that you can dress up or down. I decided to plan my wardrobe specifically around dresses. I am simply in love with those dresses that you wear with a cardigan ( likes j.crews) and flats for daytime and throw on some pearls (or other pretty piece of jewelry, perhaps with a sparkle) and change into some sandle-like heels for the evening. Dresses are also so wonderful on hot days, they keep you cool. Shift dresses are always good because they are so basic that you can pair them with anything or cinch with a belt. Oh how versatile! Below are some examples! I hope spring comes soon!Enjoy  -J

Quotes by Coco

Coco Chanel was definitely way ahead of her time! She started one of the largest couture brands and had some fabulous things to say. Here are some of my favorite quotes by her.-J

A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.

Fashion is made to become unfashionable.

Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.

Outstanding dresses!

Viktor and Rolf is an Amsterdam based fashion house, kown for their eccentric runway fashions and unique flare. It was started by Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren in 1993. Anyway here are a few dresses from their Spring 2010 Ready-To Wear Collection. I thought the dresses were interesting (and maybe a little strange) :)!-J

P.S Check out their website, it is really cool!

Toms: One for One

Toms is the brand that donates shoes to children that need them. Every time you buy a pair of their cool and comfortable shoes a needy child gets a free pair to protect his feet. Their shoes come in a variety of fabrics and patterns such as stripes, polka dots and sparkles. Though their shoes aren’t dressy, their fad has caught on and now people are even outfitting their wedding party with these socially conscious shoes. So get a pair, wether you want to wear them around the house or have them as an everyday staple  and remember that your helping someone. -J

Here is a little background on the brand Toms:

In 2006 an American traveler, Blake Mycoskie, befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by caring TOMS customers.

Taupe Nail Polish

Taupe nail polish is beginning to become very hip. People love it because it can be earthy and neutral or glam. Taupe can be paired with any color pallete, wether its pretty pinks, beiges, teals or greens it will still look amazing. One of my favorite colors is OPI Over the Taupe. This is what Instyle magazine had to say about it: “An amazing works-on-every-skin-tone shade: It gives pale skin a beautifull milkiness- and on darker skin tones, it becomes an elegant, glossy neutral.” A brand called RGB makes a lighter, dustier color called Toast, it’s beautiful and creamy.  Chanel has just come out with a new color named Particuliere. This is apparently Chanel’s Spring 2010 runway color, and if Chanel likes it then you know it has to be nice! Please let me know if you know of any other nice taupes! -J
