Friday French Lesson: Macaroons (big surprise there!)

Though this pâtisserie, Theurel & Thomas, is located in Mexico they specialize in French Macaroons (as you can very well gather from these photos). Not only do their colorful macaroons look heavenly but the store itself is lovely. I am always falling for beautiful furniture painted white, so this decor definitely speaks to me. With the all white surfaces and pops of colorful (edible) items this store must be a joy to enter!

Ina Garten’s Home

Ina Garten may have good taste in food but she also has it when it comes to home design. Here is her new-ish barn in the Hamptons. The large living/dining/kitchen room and the impeccable furnishings make this house unique! Enjoy!

Friday French Lesson!

Here is a somewhat measly excuse for not being able to whip up a more significant Friday French Lesson post, I was just so busy!  I have been drooling over these beautiful apartments in Paris via Haven in Paris. Hope you enjoy.

Calypso

While wandering around SoHo/Nolita last week I visited a few Calypso stores- clothes, home goods and marche. Calyspo’s look is very islandy and has a preppy/go-with-the-flow vibe. I really like their fragrances (especially Vanilla and Tangerine: first and third in the photo below).

Jenna Lyons Lovely Home

How great is this Brooklyn brownstone? Owned by the uber chic executive creative director of J.Crew, Jenna Lyons. The architecture of the apartment is amazing and the simple  yet effective decorating really shows it off. The color scheme is great too, greys, blacks, blues, pops of yellow and lots of white.

(Imagine, this is her closet!)

(Adorable room for her son,Beckett. Love the stripes!)

Cafe…

Daydreaming about sitting in front of a cafe in Paris such as this one below, sipping tea and munching on a hot and tender croissant while watching the city wake up and come to life.

Friday French Lesson: Merci

Merci (thank you) is the store to go to in Paris, France. Located in a former fabric factory on the edge of The Marais District this 16,ooo sq. foot “general store” was founded by Marie-France and Bernard Cohen. The store’s merchandise is comprised of everything and anything- an assortment of the eclectic and unexpected. From vintage furniture, household linens and used books to flowers and classic clothing. It’s a place where you can pick up tin picnic plates, a YSL classic, an African Violet, and clay-bead chandelier or disposable plates made of sugar pulp. The best part is 100% of Merci’s profits go to children’s charities in Madagascar.

(Lovely room)

This bedroom (featured in the November 2009 of UK Country Living) is so cute. It’s sort of nautical and altogether timeless- comfy and totally classic. Everything is warm and welcoming. The colors are great and I love the eclectic feel. I could easily imagine this being my room!
